#06 Orr and Musser show well, #05 Nowicki and Altenburg in trouble early

DALLAS, TX – February 8th, 2010 – Momentum Race Group drivers Daniel Orr and Jordon Musser put on a great show, starting from way back in 35th to move up to finish in the top ten in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Fresh From Florida 200 at Daytona International Raceway in their Amsource Capital/Monster Graphix Camaro GS.R number 06.  Jeff Nowicki and Jeff Altenburg were not quite as fortunate, as starting driver Nowicki was caught up in an early race incident that resulted in the Oakland University Systems Evolution Center Camaro GS.R  number 05 car being retired with suspension damage.  “I hate it for the team, they worked so hard to put a fantastic car together for the race and then to go out so early – it’s just frustrating,” said Nowicki on the subject.

Daniel Orr took the green flag in the 06 car using his race experience to advance forward from the 35th starting spot while still maintaining his equipment for a strong finish.  Just after the hour mark and already in the 16th spot, MRG crew chief TC Kline called Daniel in for a routine tire, fuel and driver change which saw Jordon Musser jump into the driver seat.  Jordon put his head down, caught the next group of cars and slowly began to move up the order, before a late caution allowed him to dip into the pits for a splash and go which would give him enough fuel to go the distance.

After rejoining the field and lining up at the tail-end of the GS line, Jordon was able to pick off drivers and move into the top 10.  As the race wound down, a great battle ensued with defending series champion Ken Wilden and his Ford Mustang edging Musser by less than one second at the checkered flag.  “It was a great battle, Ken gave me racing room and I gave him room.  I had a good run on him on the final lap and I was pretty sure would have put me ahead by the flag stand, but we cut the fuel too close and had a slight engine burble in the high Gs of the banking which let Ken get back around.  Either way it was a great finish and a fantastic day for MRG in its first official race,” said team principle and driver Jordon Musser.

“The whole team worked together flawlessly.  We worked very hard in the off-season to make sure our team was seamless.  There was no time for rookie mistakes with the competition as strong as it is, and my whole crew made the pit stops look effortless.  Even after I decided to make a last minute setup change that put my guys scrambling to get the cars to the grid on time, they still stayed calm and collected,  finishing the required work and still being ready for pit stops,” commented Musser.

The Fresh from Florida 200 will air on SPEED February 13th at 7pm.  MRG’s next race will be at Homestead Speedway in Miami Florida March 6th.  Complete broadcast schedule here.
