Momentum Race Group, Godstone Ranch Motorsports, and Karen Garrett confirmed today LRPG and Banner Racing will run the #07 Corvette “heart” car at the Rolex Grand Prix of Miami dressed in the stunning victory red livery of the Texas Heart Institute. To punctuate the weekend’s charity effort, Godstone Ranch announced it will also partner with Momentum Race Group of Dallas on the #05 Riley Camaro GS entry in the Continental Tire Homestead 200. Both entries will benefit Houston’s Texas Heart Institute. Despite an early end to Godstone Ranch Motorsports’ effort at the 2010 Rolex 24, the team’s real success was measured by the overwhelming response to the “heart” car and the team’s primary aim of highlighting Texas Heart Institute’s groundbreaking stem cell research.

Jones will share Momentum Race Group driver duties with his Godstone teammate, Rolex Pro-Am driver John McCutchen II. Race fans will then be treated to a Texas Heart Institute double-header by Grand–Am champion Paul Edwards and five time Daytona 200 winner Scott Russell who will cap off the weekend at the controls of the #07 Corvette heart car in the Rolex Grand Prix of Miami.

This marks the first time in recent past when a charity effort blanketed both Grand-Am series races on the same weekend. “We are so pleased with the amount of publicity Godstone Ranch and the heart car has brought to our institution,” said Dr. Denton Cooley, founder of the 45-year old Texas Heart Institute. “Cardiovascular disease is so devastating,” added Dr. Willerson, president of Texas Heart Institute. That’s why we are so focused on our adult stem cell research to help counteract the effects of this disease. We rely on the generosity of donors to fund our programs. Godstone Ranch and the notoriety of Grand-Am stars like Davy Jones and Paul Edwards and Scott Russell are providing a way for us to deliver our message of real promise.”

“I am delighted to be back in a car for Grand-Am’s Miami-Homestead weekend. The 07 Corvette’s early retirement at the Rolex 24 did not dampen the Godstone Ranch team, but as a driver, you really want to reload after a character-building event and get right back into the next race! I am excited to be co-driving a Momentum Camaro in the Homestead 200 with John and introducing race fans once again to the great work being done by the Texas Heart Institute.”

“Having Davy Jones in our car just adds to the credibility of our program which we can build on going forward. Momentum’s aim is to associate itself with world-class drivers like Jeff Altenburg and Davy Jones and Pro-Am talent like John McCutchen. Pairing out team with an institution like Texas Heart Institute at the same time is exactly on point with our team’s goals.”

“The build-up to the Rolex 24 was a lot of fun and a loving experience. At 2:36am looking at the heart car parked in the cold dark garage 16 at Daytona, I felt sad because it was all over. I am new to racing and didn’t know how much love would pour in starting that very night with a chocolate kiss from the Daytona paddock gate keeper. Since then it’s been like that! God is great. I am proud to be “Second”.  www.iamsecond.com

About Texas Heart Institute:

The mission of the Texas Heart Institute is to reduce the devastating toll of cardiovascular disease through innovative programs in research, education and improved patient care.

Texas Heart Institute is a nonprofit organization founded by Dr. Denton A. Cooley in 1962. Its location in Houston’s Texas Medical Center and affiliations with St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital and Texas Children’s Hospital assured that all age groups would be treated and freed the Institute of the burden of financing a health care facility.

Texas Heart Institute is a nonprofit organization in the truest sense. Unlike most institutions that have a source of operating revenue, Texas Heart Institute relies solely on government grants, research contracts and, above all, philanthropy. In fact, donations from grateful patients, foundations, corporations, physicians, and the general public account for more than half of the Institute’s annual operating budget.

About Godstone Ranch Motorsports:

Godstone Ranch Motorsports, a Texas 501(c) (3) non-profit corporation, is raising funds for the Texas Heart Institute in Houston, Texas as a result of our desire to see motorsport contribute to our daily lives and be more than just a sport. We want to use the allure of motor racing as a means to support a charitable concern. 100% of the net proceeds will be donated to Texas Heart Institute.

Godstone Ranch was created from artist Karen’s Garrett vision of a God centered place for artistic expression. Karen’s gifts of teaching and caring are expressed through many charitable endeavors. Karen Garrett is a nationally acclaimed sculptor, trained in the renowned James Surls Lawndale School in Houston. Her work is visionary and passionate.
