Amazing run to the front, ends with disappointment as the 05 Camaro GS.R ended its day early.
Lewisville, TX – June 24, 2010 – Momentum Race Group’s all-pro team of Jeff Altenburg and Jordon Musser put on a great show during the recent GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Emco Gears Classic at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.  After starting 10th, they fell back to 12th, then rallied to move aggressively into 4th.  The starting driver Jordon Musser was able to pick off nearly a car a lap without so much as a scrape on the car.  Musser was looking for a way around the third place Ford and second place Chevy when a BMW got a run on him on the right side going through thunder valley heading into turn 12.  The two touched which sent Jordon into a tire wall, ending his day early.
“It is a real shame for the whole team.  Everybody worked so hard and a mistake on my part ended the day early for us”, said Musser.  “Our car was incredible on used tires. Once we got to about lap 4 of the run, the car was perfect. A BMW got a run on us on the outside leading to turn 12.  He had less than a ¼ car length on me so I couldn’t see him, when I started moving right to setup for 12 he decided to hold his ground and essentially “pit maneuvered me” out of the way.  Jeff Altenburg was extremely fast and I wish he could have got a chance to flex his muscle in the race.  But at the end of the day that is racing, and we proved we have a car that can run up front”, said an emotional driver and team manager Jordon Musser.
“The performance of our program was very evident on track this weekend. We put two professional drivers in the seat and ran up front.  Even though we took a few races off, Jordon’s engineering never took a day off and we continued to learn what we could with our testing program, the dyno and data from previous races.  Momentum Race Group is ready for our first podium and ultimately we will get to the top soon”, said team owner Ray Butler
Momentum Race Group is currently working on a driver and sponsor lineup for the last 3 events of the season and also lining up talent for the 2011 season.

#06 Orr and Musser show well, #05 Nowicki and Altenburg in trouble early

DALLAS, TX – February 8th, 2010 – Momentum Race Group drivers Daniel Orr and Jordon Musser put on a great show, starting from way back in 35th to move up to finish in the top ten in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Fresh From Florida 200 at Daytona International Raceway in their Amsource Capital/Monster Graphix Camaro GS.R number 06.  Jeff Nowicki and Jeff Altenburg were not quite as fortunate, as starting driver Nowicki was caught up in an early race incident that resulted in the Oakland University Systems Evolution Center Camaro GS.R  number 05 car being retired with suspension damage.  “I hate it for the team, they worked so hard to put a fantastic car together for the race and then to go out so early – it’s just frustrating,” said Nowicki on the subject. Momentum Race Group - Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Camaro being loaded onto the trailer for the trip back to DallasWell, our first Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge  race is in the books. It has been a long winter preparing and testing for this event, but you never know how it is going to turn out until you are actually at the track.  For the most part the weekend was smooth, slowly figuring out the cars with each session.

The biggest issue we had was the huge disadvantage in power compared to the new Fords and BMWs, which are nowhere near as heavily-restricted as our engines.  We were over 8 mph down on the BMWs, and over 4 mph down from the Mustangs.  Combine that with Daytona’s insanely long straights, and it is basically a lost cause. Hopefully Grand-Am will look at the results and dyno some engines so that the rules can be made more even for all competitors. Click to read more

Testing went very well at Daytona last weekend.  We were the 2nd fastest Camaro on the track.  We had a few an odd harmonic vibrations in #05 Camaro that had not shown up in our prior (lower speed testing) and so we pretty much parked it.  We will have it on the dyno this week getting that fixed.

Daytona was a blast, no words can describe what it is like to do 165mph around that banking, cars sometimes on both sides of you with the car moving around all over the place (in-car video is coming soon). Click to read more

Had a reasonable test last weekend at Daytona with TC, Ron, Bob, Matt and Daryl getting acclimated with each other and the finicky drivers…

It’s been a while since I’ve driven Daytona and the banking always gets your attention the first time around. We tested JD Lueders in the 06 Camaro and he did a great job of learning the car and track as well as keeping it off the wall! Click to read more
