Momentum Race Group, Godstone Ranch Motorsports, and Karen Garrett confirmed today LRPG and Banner Racing will run the #07 Corvette “heart” car at the Rolex Grand Prix of Miami dressed in the stunning victory red livery of the Texas Heart Institute. To punctuate the weekend’s charity effort, Godstone Ranch announced it will also partner with Momentum Race Group of Dallas on the #05 Riley Camaro GS entry in the Continental Tire Homestead 200. Both entries will benefit Houston’s Texas Heart Institute. Despite an early end to Godstone Ranch Motorsports’ effort at the 2010 Rolex 24, the team’s real success was measured by the overwhelming response to the “heart” car and the team’s primary aim of highlighting Texas Heart Institute’s groundbreaking stem cell research.

After solid performance at season opener, Musser and Orr finalize deal to run for the championship.

Jordon Musser and Daniel Orr of Momentum Race Group - Camaro - Dallas TexasPencils hit paper before Momentum Race Group’s transporter had even returned from Daytona.  Daniel Orr and Jordon Musser put together a contract that would see them in the AmSource Capital/Monster Graphix #06 Camaro GS.R for the entire 2010 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race schedule.

Things came together rather quickly after a solid performance for the duo at the season opener which saw them finish in the top 10.  Although not exactly where they wanted to finish, they were able to move up from a 35th starting spot and cross the finish line without a scratch on the car; the things that are critical to winning a championship. Grand Am - Achieving race parity with diverse cars like Camaro - Mustang - BMWThis is one of the biggest “rest” breaks we’re likely to see during the season.  It is certainly not one of rest though, as we are working diligently to improve the performance of the cars both internally and externally. Wait…  Did I just say “externally”?  Yes, there are external influences acting on the cars.

The Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge boasts one of the most diverse grids of sports cars, yet the top 10 finishers’ average race speed difference was only about 1 mph! Click to read more

#06 Orr and Musser show well, #05 Nowicki and Altenburg in trouble early

DALLAS, TX – February 8th, 2010 – Momentum Race Group drivers Daniel Orr and Jordon Musser put on a great show, starting from way back in 35th to move up to finish in the top ten in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Fresh From Florida 200 at Daytona International Raceway in their Amsource Capital/Monster Graphix Camaro GS.R number 06.  Jeff Nowicki and Jeff Altenburg were not quite as fortunate, as starting driver Nowicki was caught up in an early race incident that resulted in the Oakland University Systems Evolution Center Camaro GS.R  number 05 car being retired with suspension damage.  “I hate it for the team, they worked so hard to put a fantastic car together for the race and then to go out so early – it’s just frustrating,” said Nowicki on the subject. Momentum Race Group - Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Camaro being loaded onto the trailer for the trip back to DallasWell, our first Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge  race is in the books. It has been a long winter preparing and testing for this event, but you never know how it is going to turn out until you are actually at the track.  For the most part the weekend was smooth, slowly figuring out the cars with each session.

The biggest issue we had was the huge disadvantage in power compared to the new Fords and BMWs, which are nowhere near as heavily-restricted as our engines.  We were over 8 mph down on the BMWs, and over 4 mph down from the Mustangs.  Combine that with Daytona’s insanely long straights, and it is basically a lost cause. Hopefully Grand-Am will look at the results and dyno some engines so that the rules can be made more even for all competitors. Click to read more
